The explosion happened 100 feet from the reservoir's Inlet Bay Marina at 8:45 a.m. Saturday, according to Poudre Fire Authority. When firefighters arrived on scene, the boat's occupants were at the end of a dock and required individual transportation to receive medical care.
Once the patients were cared for, firefighters worked to quell the fire. According to PFA, the marina owner pulled the boat to an area where firefighters could safely control the fire, which they did by 10:22 a.m. But when the boat was removed from the water, the fire reignited due to lingering heat. Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the flare-up.
