The rescue occurred Sunday night near Fort Macon State Park in the Back Sound. A Coast Guard news release says authorities received the distress call shortly before 6 p.m.
A crew recovered three people from the water and one who was on the boat. The people survived and were taken back to a Coast Guard station nearby.
Petty Officer 3rd Class James Sellers, who was aboard the response boat, said not all of the people had on life jackets. He says it serves as a good reminder for people to have on life jackets at all times because there isn't always time to put one on when an emergency strikes.
