At 11 a.m. Wednesday the Coast Guard received a distress call from a boater anchored in
the Intracoastal Waterway just south of the Blue Heron Bridge.
The caller and another man on the sailboat had been overcome by carbon monoxide.
The Coast Guard responded and towed the boat into its base in Riviera Beach.
Both boaters were transported to St Mary's Medical Center.
One of the men died at the hospital and the other is being treated for exposure to carbon
monoxide.
The Riviera Beach Police are checking the sail boater's generator to determine if it was
working properly.
