Officials say the 26-foot cabin cruiser exploded around 12:30 p.m. Thursday while the boat
was at a marina.
The man was taken to an area hospital and later transferred to Loyola University Medical
Center's burn unit.
Burnham Fire Chief James Bendinelli says the man's wife -- who was with him on the boat
at the time -- was treated at the scene and released.
Bendinelli says authorities are continuing to investigate but it appears that a fuel leak was
the cause of the explosion.
Coast Guard officer Robert Busby says no fuel or oil leaked into the Little Calumet River.
