LORAIN -- A man jumped to safety after his boat exploded off of Beaver
Park Marina Wednesday evening.
The Lorain Fire Department responded to Beaver Park at West Erie Avenue and
Oak Point Road in Lorain, Ohio Wednesday evening after reports of a boat
explosion.
When emergency crews arrived on scene, the 34-footer was engulfed in flames.
The owner said he was just trying to start his boat for the first time this spring
when it blew.
The boat owner sustained minor injuries and burns but refused treatment.
The boat was worth about $45,000 and is a total loss.
There was also damage to the dock and two other boats.
The fire department remains on scene until the fuel, oil and other liquids are
pumped out and then the boat is towed from the scene.
