Three people were hospitalized with burn injuries Saturday night after a fire erupted in a rented party boat on Lake Travis, according to Lake Travis Fire and Rescue.
Nine people on board had docked the rented boat on Starnes Island when the boat’s power generator began malfunctioning, a fire official said. A man began working on the generator at the back of the boat with two women nearby when a “flash fire” erupted, said Lt. Jonathan Bohot with Lake Travis Fire and Rescue.
Rescue crews took the three victims to Emerald Point, where at least one was flown via a STAR Flight helicopter to the Dell Seton Medical Center. One woman sustained second- and third-degree burns while two others suffered burns to their lower extremities.
The Travis County Fire Marshal is leading an investigation into the cause of the fire.

Officials are warning you to install Carbon Monoxide Detectors in your boats and RVs.

That's after three kids were exposed, making for a scary situation in Parke County.

According to the Bellmore Volunteer Fire Department, it happened Saturday night, just before 7:30.

Emergency crews were called to the main boat ramp at the Raccoon State Recreation Area. That's where they found an unresponsive 10-year-old boy.

In total, officials said three kids were suffering from Carbon Monoxide exposure.

All of them were taken to Hendricks County Hospital.

Officials said an exhaust problem likely caused the Carbon Monoxide to build up in the boat's cabin area.

Two Canadian aquaculture workers were rescued Friday afternoon by the Maine Marine Patrol in Passamaquoddy Bay off Eastport after their boat caught fire.
During a routine patrol, Marine Patrol Officer Brian Brodie spotted Brett Newman and Patrick Blair, both of Campobello, New Brunswick, and employees of Cooke Aquaculture, paddling a life raft, the marine patrol said in a statement Saturday.
The two men had escaped a fire on their 40-foot lobster-style boat while supplying feed for Cooke’s sites in the bay.
The two said they noticed smoke and flames in the engine room and launched the life raft. They were found by Brodie about five minutes later about one-eighth of a mile from shore near Todd Head in Eastport.
Neither man was injured and both were wearing life jackets. They were transferred to a Cooke Aquaculture vessel.
The burning boat drifted in the flood tide past Dog Island and into the whirlpools between Deer Island Point and Dog Island, where it is being monitored by the U.S. Coast Guard.

Coast Guard rescues 3 after fishing vessel catches fire near Port Isabel - Corpus Christi, TX

Coast Guard crews continue to respond to a fishing vessel fire approximately 40 miles east of Port Isabel, Texas, Friday evening.
The crew of the Coast Guard Cutter Coho remains on scene and is closely monitoring the status of the vessel to mitigate any potential environmental hazards.
The Coast Guard has opened the Oil Spill Liability Trust Fund and is working with T&T Marine Salvage to extinguish the fire and remove any oil discharged from the vessel.
A 500-yard safety zone remains in effect around the Master D. The vessel has approximately 23,000 gallons of diesel fuel and 300 gallons of lube oil onboard.
“Our primary focus remains on the safety of our response personnel and mitigating any possible pollution threat,” said Capt. Edward Gaynor, Sector/Air Station Corpus Christi commanding officer.
Friday morning, Eighth Coast Guard District watchstanders in New Orleans received an emergency position indicating radio beacon alert from the fishing vessel Master D, which provided an approximate location of the vessel.
Marine Safety Detachment Brownsville deployed personnel and coordinated initial response efforts.
Coast Guard Sector/Air Station Corpus Christi watchstanders diverted the Coast Guard Cutter Coho to the location. The Coho crew located the fishing vessel on fire, as well as the three-person crew in a life raft nearby and transferred them aboard the cutter.
A Coast Guard Station South Padre Island boat crew transferred the crewmembers from the Coho back to their station.
All crewmembers are accounted for and there were no reports of injuries.
