Dave Kolz, battalion chief with the Green Bay Metro Fire Department, said a call came in at 9:23 a.m. Wednesday reporting smoke coming from one of the boats in the yacht club's storage yard.
He said firefighters had to cut a hole in the side of the 35-foot boat to get to the "engine compartment." It took two tanks of water to put out the blaze, he said.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, but the fire does not appear to be suspicious, he said.
"There are a lot of boats there (at the yacht club) up on jacks and it's not unusual for people to work on them during the offseason," he said. "It could be a variety of things, like if the owners were using space heaters while they worked to keep warm."
He said officials are talking with the owners of the boat to determine what might have happened.
There were no injuries.
