According to a press release, the boat owner had tried to put out the fire with a fire extinguisher. The U.S. Coast Guard also tried with an extinguisher.
Duluth firefighters were able to get in and put it out. The department used their Marine 19 vessel to provide water.
After the blaze was put out, the boat was pulled from the water, so any water on board can be taken off on land for environmental reasons.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Duluth Fire Department Fire Marshal's Office. There were no injuries to report. Damages are estimated at $40,000
