Coronado fire Battalion Chief Bill Toon said none was hurt.
Ten people, including six children, were on the boat, heading out to San Diego Bay when they smelled smoke and made their way back to the dock on Admirality Cross. Just before the boat reached the dock, flames broke out, Toon said.
Several people in the group jumped into the water, while others walked off onto the dock. One person was able to partially tie up the boat at the dock, Toon said.
When firefighters arrived, the boat was fully engulfed in flames. Toon said they extinguished the blaze in 15 minutes.
The estimated damage to the boat was set at $60,000, Toon said. The fire did not spread to the dock or homes directly in front of it.
