A girl was taken to the hospital with non life-threatening burns Tuesday afternoon after a boat caught fire on Lake Greenwood, according to officials.
State Department of Natural Resources Media Relations Coordinator Greg Lucas said a man from Ninety Six had his daughter and three other juvenile girls on a boat Tuesday afternoon near the Highway 34 boat ramp in Ninety Six. Two of the girls were on an inflatable float tethered behind the boat with the man ready to pull them when the boat’s motor caught fire, Lucas said.
Everyone got in the water, but Lucas said the man and his daughter received burns on their legs. The daughter was taken to Self Regional Medical Center with non life-threatening injuries, and the man declined treatment, Lucas said.
