Nick Walsh, Anacortes Fire Department division chief, said crew from Station 2 were in quarters and responded quickly. Crews arrived to find flames and smoke coming out the back end of a 53-foot powerboat.
“We did an offensive attack on the fire. We were able to get it under control really quickly,” he said.
The boat owner did a haul out Thursday night because it looked like the boat was taking on water after the fire.
Walsh said the cause is undetermined at this time.
He said he didn’t notice any environmental impact. He didn’t see an oil sheen and the fuel tanks appeared to be intact.
No one was on the boat at the time of the fire and it was the only boat on that dock at the time, Walsh said. The dock neighbor returned while the fire was going on, he said.
