Arron Garrett, chief of the Frankfort Fire Department, said a call came in around 10:40 a.m. on Oct. 1 about a charter boat fire.
The boat, Tangle Five, was docked at the North Star Marina, in Elberta.
"It was a total loss," Garrett said. "The fire started in the front of the boat, but the cause is unknown. It is damaged so badly, it would be hard to determine."
While the boat was severely damaged, it did not sink, as the fire department pumped water out of the vessel at the same time they were combating the fire.
An adjacent charter boat, Murphy's Law, also was damaged.
Garrett said the fire department contacted the owners of Tangle Five, who said it was last used on Sept. 28.
