County police said.
Dwight Rovery, 64, was found by a tenant in a boathouse on South Ketcham Avenue about
6:40 p.m., police said.
When Amityville police and fire officials arrived, they found that the boat's engine was
running and the garage area had high carbon monoxide levels, Suffolk police said.
Rovery's mother, Anita Rovery, 92, who lives in an apartment above the boathouse, was
found unconscious amid extremely high carbon monoxide levels, police said. She was
taken to Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow, where she was in critical condition.
Police said Rovery's death did not appear to be suspicious. The Suffolk County Medical
Examiner's office will determine a cause of death.
