The fire happened around 5:45 p.m. and the two were forced to jump from their burning boat with life jackets, sending crews from five different agencies to rescue them and put out the flames.
Charlotte County Fire and EMS responded along with FWC, Cape Coral Marine 7, Charlotte County deputies and Lee County deputies.
Charlotte County Fire and EMS rescued the couple when they arrived on the scene.
FWC is now leading the investigation. They're still working to find out what caused the fire, but they said both people who jumped are okay.
"You never know when a situation like this is going to happen," said Captain Andrew Hamilton, a barge captain from Bokeelia.
FWC has not released the names of the people on board.
