Officials responded to a boat fire on Prior Lake around 7:07 p.m. Thursday, June 8 after Scott County Dispatch received multiple 911 calls regarding the incident.
A 2008 Runabout owned by a Prior Lake resident was found fully engulfed in flames. Five occupants were able to safely evacuate the boat and were aided by other boaters, according to a news release. Two occupants sustained minor burns and were treated on scene by Allina Ambulance.
The Prior Lake Fire Department battled the fire by boat and from the shoreline near the 16200 block of Lakeside Avenue SE. The boat was a total loss, according to the news release. The cause of the fire is under investigation, but no foul play is suspected.
The Scott County Sheriff’s Office and the Prior Lake Police Department also responded to the incident.
The Scott County Sheriff’s Office urged boaters to inspect their personal flotation devices and fire extinguishers as emergencies on the water can occur in an instant, according to the release.
