A man, the boat operator and sole person aboard, was rescued.
Chief Petty Officer Michael Davis of the Tawas Station said Monday that there were no injuries and a Coast Guard vessel was dispatched to the scene to protect any other vessels in the area.
The survivor's name was not released.
Davis confirmed TV news reports that a Good Samaritan near the boat fire responded to a marine broadcast around 7 p.m. and rescued the boat operator who was already in the water with a life jacket near Point Lookout Harbor in AuGres.
The Good Samaritan, Davis said, brought the man to emergency responders.
