Nine people were transported to safety after their boat caught fire off the Destin coast on Saturday.
According to the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office, a 44-foot Sundancer vessel caught fire about 11 miles offshore. The fire was contained to the engine room and nobody was injured.
The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office Marine Unit transported four children and three adults back to land. The U.S. Coast Guard transported the boat’s owner and captain after assessing the boat’s condition.
Officials had not yet released the cause of the fire.
