The Cape Coral Fire Department said a flare gun was responsible for causing $70,000 worth of damage to a boat on New Year's Eve.
It happened at 1727 Savona Parkway.
Officials said a neighbor who lives across from where the boat was parked along the canal discharged a flare, which landed in the boat and ignited the fire.
Cape Coral Police Department said that no arrests related to a boat fire were made on Monday night.
An investigation is ongoing.
