Three people were rescued after a shrimping boat caught fire in the water off Fort Myers Beach on Thursday morning.
The Coast Guard saw the fire while on patrol in the area and rescued the three people from the 63-foot boat when they weren’t able to put out the flames themselves.
Fire boat crews from Cape Coral, Sanibel, Estero and Lee County responded to the scene as well and were able to put out the fire along with the help of the crew of the sister ship for the shrimping boat, the Coast Guard said.
The boat was taken out of the water and the Coast Guard is monitoring for pollution.
