The Coast Guard received a call at 6:00 a.m. about a 50 ft. boat on fire in Tarpon Basin. The Coast Guard launched a 24-foot special purpose boat to put out the houseboat fire. They were able to put out the fire using the wash from their propellers.
According to the Coast Guard, there were no people aboard and no reported injuries.
"We also monitored the fire due to the close proximity to the mangroves and its potential for impacting the environment," said Petty Officer 1st Class John Fleming in a press release.
